“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Henry David Thoreau
It was these words that first inspired me to build a cottage. Frustrated with clutter and a seemingly endless climb to a place I no longer wished to go. The process of building allowed me the freedom to dream, to create and to imagine a simple world where Thoreau and his cabin would feel at home. As the walls were going up we were surprised by the reactions to the "tiny house". It seems that inside most people there is a desire for simplicity. We heard so many comments about wanting "to live" in the cottage and not wanting to leave. As we began rolling them to the Island we were overwhelmed with requests for a tour and information about rentals. So here today our cottages are offered for rent on Assateague Island. They are basic and simple and without stove, sink or icebox to clutter the space it seems both cozy and spacious at the same time. We hope you enjoy your stay on the island and in our cottages. We have several new colors under construction and hope to provide a small village of these refreshingly simple lodgings in the near future. Sincerely,Ron Harrigan
